Flights to Nanchang and Lushan
Nanchang Airport
Nanchang is the capital city of Jiangxi Province, and has the modern Nanchang Changbei International Airport (airport code KHN) near to Jiujiang and Lushan, with abundant domestic flights. It is convenient to fly to Lushan via Nanchang as there are more 10 flights per day from Shanghai, Beijing or Xiamen, costing approximately $100 USD. To travel from Nanchang to Lushan is about a 2 hour drive by van arranged by the Insititute.
Jiujiang Airport
The city of Jiujiang on the Yangtze River has it's own small airport, Jiujiang Lushan Airport, airport code JIU. Its very close to Mt. Lu but flights are very limited and some only depart after 11 PM. There are flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen directly so if you can find one that meets your schedule, its convenient. A bus or taxi up the mountain road to Lushan takes just under an hour.
From Nanchang/ Jiujaing to Lushan
The Lusan Institute can arrange pick up from either Nanchang or Jiujiang airport for you, or if you want to travel to Lushan by yourself, you can take the intercity bus from Nanchang Airport to Jiujiang Long-distance Bus Station which costs 55 RMB. The departure times are 9:50, 11:10, 14:50 and 16:50. Taxis go direct to Lushan from either airport, however, the cost will be over 400 RMB from Nanchang and 150 RMB from Jiujiang.
Jiujiang Bus: From downtown of Jiujiang, you may take shuttle bus at the Long-distance Bus Station of Jiujiang City (九江长途汽车站)to Mt. Lushan. The service time is from 7:30-10:30, 13:30-16:30 , a bus departs every 60 minutes. It takes an hour to get Lushan. Please notice that there is no bus after 17:00. You may also take the tourist bus at the square of the Railway Station of Jiujiang City (九江火车站广场) to Mt. Lushan, this costs 15 RMB and takes 50 minutes.
Lushan Local Transportation
Kuling Town is a small town located in Lushan, a Tourist Bus(观光巴士) that takes you to different scenic attractions conveniently is available everywhere around Kuling on the mountain. Bus service is from 7 AM to 7 PM, price of the tourist bus costs 80 yuan/week or 150 yuan for an unlimitedpass (this one is recommended). Besides the bus, Lushan has many taxies too, which shuttle back and forth between the streets and lanes every day. Lushan taxi drivers are called “living maps”, they can take you to everywhere you want conveniently. And of course, you can always enjoy walking or jogging through the Kuling streets, at dawn or dusk. it’s a small town and walking, strolling and hiking are some of the greatest pleasures of experiencing Lushan local life.
